Team Introduction

Our team is dedicated to researching the neurobiology and molecular pharmacology of adenosine receptors, with a particular focus on the adenosine A2A receptor in the field of neuropsychiatric diseases. Our research has advanced the use of adenosine A2A receptor antagonists as a novel therapeutic strategy for neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's disease, while also deepening our understanding of the biological function of adenosine receptors in the pathological processes underlying neuropsychiatric conditions. Professor Jiangfan Chen, as a scientific consultant, has been involved in the development of clinical drugs targeting A2A receptor antagonists for Parkinson's disease for over 20 years, leading to FDA approval in September 2019.

Since 2020, supported by the State Key Laboratory of Optometrics and Visual Sciences, Wenzhou Medical University's "Eye-brain Research Center" has been established by integrating research findings from this laboratory and leveraging disciplinary expertise from the Key Laboratory of Optometrics and Visual Sciences. The center aims to establish a comprehensive understanding of retinal-brain connectivity at a cellular level throughout the entire brain. Additionally, it seeks to explore the significance of eye-brain connections pathways in visual neurobiology, particularly investigating potential treatments for visual developmental disorders (such as amblyopia) and neuropsychiatric diseases (such as depression and PD) through light stimulation along these pathways.
